Child Care Philosophy
At NICCS, we believe every child is capable, competent, and full of potential. Our educators are co-learners and co-researchers, nurturing each child’s curiosity and love of learning.
Guided by Alberta’s Flight Early Learning Framework, we offer a play-based curriculum rooted in children’s everyday experiences and interests. We build strong, caring relationships with families and our community, embracing diversity and helping children grow as caring, active citizens.
At NICCS, we present a curriculum that reflects the interests of children and makes learning meaningful and relevant to their lives. Guided by Alberta’s Early Learning and Child Care Curriculum Framework (Flight), we embrace children’s everyday experiences as the source of curriculum meaning-making. Pedagogical observations and documentation of children’s interests and developmental needs help us notice, name, and nurture the holistic, play-based goals of Flight and children’s dispositions for learning.

Early learning and child care are important to us because we are passionate about building safe, caring relationships with children, families, and educators through play and participation in our program. Our role as educators is to support children in becoming lifelong mighty learners, connecting to the Matters to Be Considered as outlined in the Early Learning and Child Care Act.
