Hannah Butkiewicz
Program Director
Hannah is the Program Director at our Duchess Centre. She holds a Level 3 Early Childhood Educator certification, having graduated from Lakeland College in 2024. With over 16 years of experience working with children, Hannah began her journey through babysitting, supporting elementary classrooms, and now working in a daycare setting.
Her passion for early learning has taken her around the world, she has nannied in both Brisbane, Australia and Limerick, Ireland. Hannah loves to travel, spend time with her family, read, and enjoy the outdoors. She finds great joy in being part of each child's growth and development, and is grateful for the opportunity to support their learning every day.
Payton Ion-Despas
Educator-Caterpillar
Payton currently works in the Caterpillar Room at our centre. She is enrolled in the Early Childhood Education diploma program at Lethbridge College and is working toward her Level 2 and 3 certifications.
Originally from Brooks, Payton lives there with her husband and their two dogs. Since graduating in 2019, she has gained valuable experience in childcare and brings creativity and enthusiasm to her role each day.
Payton loves learning and exploring alongside the children, discovering their interests and helping them grow through meaningful, play-based experiences.
Hobbies:
Spending time with family and friends, painting, and drawing.
Paige Stewart
Educator-Butterfly
Paige works in the Butterfly Room at our Duchess Centre. She recently moved to Duchess with her fiancé and is excited to be part of the community. Paige is looking forward to beginning her early childhood education journey by enrolling in coursework to obtain her Level 2 certification.
She enjoys golfing and spending quality time with her friends and family.
Paige loves being part of each child’s learning journey and finds joy in watching them grow and discover the world through play. She loves watching the children learn and grow through play!
Hannah Winter
Casual Educator
Hannah was born and raised in Brooks, AB. She currently holds her Level 1 Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification and has worked in the field for five years. At present, she is pursuing her Bachelor of Education at Medicine Hat College. Hannah has a deep passion for working with children, which has guided both her career and educational path.
My Childcare Philosophy: "My favorite part of childcare is building resilient and trusting relationships with the children. Day by day I love getting to see the growth in every individual as they are constantly learning. Seeing their excitement when master a new skill or discover something new is incredibly rewarding."
Favorite Learning Experience: Art and Sensory Experiences
Hobbies: Walks, exploring the mountains, and snowboarding during the winter months, cooking and baking, trying out new recipes and sharing them with friends and families.
