As an Early Childhood Educator (ECE), you will play a critical role in shaping the early learning experiences of young children. Working side-by-side with teachers, families, and management, you will help create a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment that truly feels like a home away from home for the children in our care. Your role is to support children's growth, learning, and emotional development in alignment with our values and curriculum framework.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Development & Implementation
Design and implement developmentally appropriate activities in accordance with the NICCS curriculum.
Foster physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development through play-based and structured learning opportunities.
Incorporate diverse learning materials and methods to accommodate different learning styles and cultural backgrounds.
2. Child Well-Being & Safety
Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy environment for all children, both indoors and outdoors.
Supervise children closely at all times and follow safety protocols.
Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and infection control.
3. Observation, Assessment & Communication
Regularly observe and document children’s developmental progress, behaviors, and interests.
Use assessments to tailor activities to meet individual needs.
Engage in ongoing, respectful communication with parents regarding their child’s experiences and development.
4. Collaboration & Teamwork
Work cooperatively with fellow educators, support staff, and management to create a cohesive learning environment.
Foster positive, supportive relationships with families, recognizing them as partners in their child's development.
Participate actively in staff meetings, team planning sessions, and center events.
5. Professional Growth & Organizational Involvement
Attend professional development workshops and training sessions as required.
Stay current with early childhood education trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of center policies and programming.
6. Classroom Management & Maintenance
Maintain an organized, welcoming, and stimulating learning space.
Take responsibility for the cleanliness, order, and upkeep of classroom supplies and materials.
Support routines such as meal times, transitions, and rest periods in a calm and structured manner.
7. Other Duties
Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor or director to ensure the effective operation of the center.
Requirements:
Early Childhood Education Certification – Level 1, 2, or 3 (or a B.Ed./equivalent qualification recognized in the province).
Must meet provincial regulatory requirements for employment in a licensed childcare setting.
Current Standard First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification.
Clear and current Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search.
Strong communication skills and a passion for working with young children.
